First Report of Blog Censorship in Syria

The Syrian Domari yesterday became the first blog to be censored in Syria.

Syria Mirror reported today that the Syrian Computer Society, one of two government-owned internet service providers in Syria, has blocked access to the Syrian Domari. The unprecedented move comes 2 months after anonymous bloggers launched Al Domari in November 2005. The blog uses satire, cartoons and pictures to criticize the current political situation in Syria.

I am currently outside Syria. Can bloggers in Syria confirm the news?

UPDATE (1/30): The SCS has unblocked Al Domari. This was confirmed by the Domari guys themselves. Earlier, Gottfried had complained to SCS and received an interesting (also very frank and informative!) reply: "We are not responsible of blocking any site, there is a security department who is responsible of that."
