Is It Really Valentine??!

First of all let me make a clearstatement about what I think of St. Valentine day, Valentine my ass. Ireceived a sms this morning wishing me a happy Valentine day, my normalreaction was “Is it really Valentine??!” May be I’m the last one whoshould whine about it because for once I am not really in a “relationship” andI always made it clear in previous occasions that I don’t do Valentines, butstill I think I can talk from the behalf of all the men I know when I say: What the dealwith Valentine anyway?? Does love really need a day to be celebrated? Is theresomething called love in the first place?? Yeah surprise!! I amemotional alright but not the least romantic, and if anyone sensed otherwise, well I’ll be straight honest, I am a man and sometimes I have to do things toget somewhere (and don’t let your dirty mind take you places… naughty, naughty, naughty people). I am not proud of it but life goes on.

Anyway there are three mainreasons why I hate or at least dislike Valentine:

  1. It’s a method women in cooperate companies invented to clean off men pockets.
  2. It’s a constant disappointment to women, let’s face it, as hard as we men work we don’t have an ice cube's chance in hell to meet women expectations; they’re organized and too sophisticated to get surprised.
  3. Like everything in life, if by some chance one of us pulled a perfect Valentine date, and gift, each coming Valentine would a challenge to the poor guy and compared to this perfect date. My advice to the guys out there who couldn’t make it and fell in the trap, don’t put all your effort in it, believe me an erotic night is not worth it.

However the thing I hate the mostduring Valentine is “being affectionate in public”… Not to mention it’sdisgusting to see two people making out in public, but it really gets to singlemen and women!! Besides I don’t know about others, but I think if the couple isreally in love, such actions have certain sacredness to them, and I honestlythink they lose it with showing off or -to be more passionate and considerate-with sharing them with everybody.

Today on my way to the café thetaxi driver was listening to a local station, where the program host was askingthe silliest questions like “Is love really blind?” “Does Romeo and Julietromance like exists nowadays” etc… Then suddenly the very educated taxi driverpoured his wisdom and said:

Taxi Driver: Do you knowwhat the women problem is today?
Me (sarcastic): No Iunfortunately don’t know.
Taxi Driver: They don’tknow how to cook?
Me (surprised): Huh??
Taxi Driver (full of himself):The lucky man is the one who marries a cook; forget about beauty because itfades with time.
Me (nodding and thinking wellladies that’s what you’re dealing with, so don’t hold the bar too high): Isee I’ll keep that in mind.

So as conclusion Valentine my assand I hope this post isn’t too sexist for my ladies visitors’ taste. And onemore important thing “Allah yer7amak ya sayedi Rafiq Al Hariri” mayAllah bless your soul my dear sir Rafiq Al-Hariri, god bless theLebanese and Syrian people.
