We have this weekly “ritual”which is family’s day, every Friday my maternal family meets just to spend somequality time with each others especially that everyone of us is busy during theweek days so without even considering the sacredness of Friday for Muslims,this gatherings adds extra holiness to it. Anyway this Friday we decided tohave lunch at Beit Shamy in the old city (my favorite place on earth I’msure you’ve read that a thousand time now :-P).

Anyway after spending around allour afternoon in the restaurant, my uncle Bisher invited a magician anda balloon artist as well to entertain my cousins and brothers. The Magician isa second generation Syrian immigrant in the states, his name is ArefAl-Khateeb, and last year he decided to settle back in Damascus and to marry his cousin and start abusiness here. By the way did I mention he doesn’t speak a single Arabic word??Well that’s an exaggeration he knows how to say “Assalam Aliakum” “Keefak” “Al Hamdulillah”.Anyway I never saw my brothers so happy and excited. I love our sweet Fridayand it seems I’m not yet near missing Saudi Arabia, but I miss youBassam. :-D
