Locals, Indians, Filipinos, Arabs, Iranians and Brits form up almost all the population of Dubai. English and Arabic are the official languages in the UAE but there appears to be however a language that is a mixture of everything and is used by almost everyone. This post will serve as a crash course for anyone planning to come to Dubai. I'll keep updating this as much as possible. Words and their meanings: Too much: Very, A lot (Orig. Filipino and Indian English) Nafar: Person (Orig. Urdu) Kabayan: Filipino/a, Homie (Orig. Tagalog) Kachra: Crap (Orig. Hindi & Urdu) Khalliwalli: Let them go to hell (Orig. Local Arabic) Make it fast: Hurry up (Orig. Filipino and Indian English) Sida: Straight, as a traffic direction (Orig. Hindi) Wajed: Too much (Orig. Arabic & Urdu) Yaani: That means (Orig. Arabic) Dubai-Sharjah: Masturbation (Universal Dubai Use) Yallah: Come on (Orig. Arabic) Tell: Say (Orig. Indian English) Ginjal: Problem (Orig. Urdu) Mushkil: Problem (Orig. Hindi) Mafi Maaloum: I don't know (Orig. Arabic & Hindi) Khalas: Over, Done, Enough (Orig. Arabic & Hindi & Urdu) Jumeira Jane: A European expat (Orig. British) Only: Used at the end of sentences for no good reason (Orig. Indian English) Station: Toyota Land Cruiser or any similar vehicle (Orig. Local Arabic) Dig-dig: Sex (Universal Dubai Use) Motar: Car (Orig. Local Arabic) Triple-Parking: I guess you already know Double-Parking. Triple-Parking closes up on people who double-parked.
