Last Two Weeks Round-up

I haven't blogged in a while, sometimes I was busy with work or uni, other times I didn't feel like posting, I have a long list of things to blog about, will start with what I think is an interesting topic later tonight, this post is going to be a quick round up of the last two weeks.

I couldn't make it to FOSDEM 2006, my visa didn't arrive in time, one day before my flight date I made a series of phone calls which ended at the Foreigners Office in Belgium, and they said my application had to go through several departments and there was no way for me to get the visa in time.

Frank Hecker, the executive director of Mozilla Foundation, was fabulously helpful through out the whole thing, and I felt that my work on localization was greatly appreciated, but unfortunately, the visa thing was out of everyone's control.

Thank you Frank!

On another topic, my final semester started last week, I haven't done much work on the graduation project, the dead-line is the end of the semester (some time around June), let's hope I can make it in time.

As a follow-up to the "Slashdot blocks Sryian ISP" entry, I have yet to receive a response from Slashdot staff, I emailed them again yesterday with more technical details, let's hope they reply this time.

For those who don't know, I'm still using dial-up to connect to the Internet, recently ADSL became easier to get and a bit cheaper, I have been trying to get a line for 3 weeks, I went through a series of hoops to be told that the ~50 lines available in my city were all taken by then, now I'm waiting for more lines to be installed :(

That's it I guess.
