Another great man goes under the soil.. Dr. Abdulsalam Oujaili.. Medical Doctor, great writer, amazing poet, honest politian, and a very good family friend.. he chose solitude to staying in a dirty rotten world like ours.. he left this filth to go to places where great people like him deserve to be.. He was the reason for my first indulgence in the wonderful world of reading.. and the one who unleashed my imagination about places outside our borders in his books about his european experience.. I owe a great debt to Dr. Oujaili.. his books have put me on the path of the Gypsy explorer life I am leading.. he fed my imagination with tales about beautiful fictional european strangers.. beautiful countries and amazing places I have not yet seen.. the surreal world of the bedouine community he had to go back to after he finished his study in Europe.. his tales about politics, medicine, the Euphrates.. all so magical, mystical and mind blowing.. Dr Oujaili was one of the Brazil cafe pioneers.. a bright name in the cultural life of the 60's, one of the contributors in the Domari (the original one) and Al Dabbour newspapers.. his books are always engraved in my memory.. always fascinating me with the possibilities of finding the excitement on the other side.. not because the grass is always greener, but necause you will never know how green it is until you cross the line and go there... I can't mourn you Enough, my dear doctor.. I will always cherish you as a great inspiration and a major influence on my humble life.. people like you cross the boundaries to other dimensions.. not to the afterlife.. the afterlife is nothing but a minor stop in one of your travels... your journey into eternity has started.. and this is where you will always be.. cry all you can my beloved Syria.. the people who once made you a great country are leaving you filled with shame.. cry for your present because its slipping from between your fingers.. and cry for a future that cannot be seen by our weary eyes. |
