The most frequent asked question that dwells in our world nowadays is "who is responsible of the assassination of Lebanon ex-Prime Minister Rafik Al-Hariri?"

It is common in the world of investigations that every possible theory deals with such a question is acceptable unless the investigation process proves the contrary, however, the strange thing in this case is that there was only one theory: Syria, well, every theory has justifications, and this one's justifications confined to only one reason which is the political crisis brought on by the extension of President Emile Lahoud's term, which was brought about by pressure from Syria, followed by his resignation as a Prime Minister and thus changing his allegiance to join the opposition, and this, according to the holders of this theory, is an obvious reason why they continually accuses Syria.

All right then, let's just examines this theory carefully:

If we travel back in time before this "political crises" in Lebanon, we could see that Rafik Al-Hariri was the right hand of Syria from the first second of the Syrian existence in Lebanon, in addition that he played "the godfather" role in the once excellent relationship between Syria and France, and he was the strongest link that combined Syria with Saudi Arabia, with no ignorance to his major role in the negotiations between Syria and USA that reached its peak when Syria started an open negotiation with Israel, even after the extension of Lahoud's term, Al-Hariri did not transformed into the arch enemy of Syria in Lebanon, on contrary, having an arch ally such Al-Hariri in the opposition side will return with great benefit to the Syrian interests, offcourse no one in the whole world can be convinced that such an ally will cut-off all his political relations with the main power in his country just because their thoughts differed, let me explain this more precisely; Al-Hariri has joined the opposition side, thus he has established deeper connection with the main parties in this side, while keeping his connections with the other side-Syria and its allies- that will make him a link between the two sides, in other meaning; he kept his formal place as a link between Syria and others, and by killing him, Syria will ruin all what she planned to do, and will lose the most important ally ever.

Nevertheless, still there are many of those who accuses Syria of murdering Rafik Al-Hariri, whose, by a mere coincidence, were his arch rivals and continually blamed him for every single problem during the Syrian existence in Lebanon, even they called him a "Syrian instrument".

I still remember that in 14/02/2005 (the day when Al-Hariri died), I turned on the TV to watch the news, and I was choked by the view of the explosion, but the most event that chocked me that day, is the view of some of the Lebanese people cursing Syria and accusing her of murdering Al-Hariri one hour right after he died, and soon this accusations were on the lips of every man and woman in the world, and that strangely reminded me of one of Mark Twine's quotes: "A lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is still putting on its shoes."
